Cheshire Cat is a javascript program which can be added to any page in order to dynamically remove content from that page after human interaction is detected. The purpose of Cheshire Cat is to create a webpage whose entire content is seen by the Google bot, but have only some of the content visible to an actual user. This can be very useful for AJAX driven websites, because it allows an AJAX enabled site to retain its lower server load advantage while still having all of a site's content visible to Google's search engine.
Cheshire Cat can also be deployed in a more deceptive manner by including content related to a competitor's product on a page describing a product you're trying to promote. In such an instance a user might see your page show up when searching for the competing product on Google, but they would actually only view your product's information when they clicked through.
Right-Click on this link to download the Cheshire Cat teaser Zip file.
After unzipping the teaser archive using Winzip (or another program), open CheshireCat.swf with your web browser (Firefox is recommended) to see a slideshow presentation.
Opening CheshireCat.html with your web browser will provide more detailed information on using Cheshire Cat.
